Visit Hungerford Website – WordPress
Following on from the success of our websites for Langport Town Council and Castle Cary, we were invited to tender for the Visit Hungerford website. Hungerford is a beautiful market town in Berkshire just over the border from Wiltshire. The town has some excellent pubs and hotels and is crammed full of antique shops and other independent cafes and delis. The town is located just off the M4 corridor and on the mainline train route to London and Bristol. The Chamber of Commerce is very active and wanted to do something to boost local businesses and promote the town to a wider audience.
The original website was only 1 page so a lot of work was required to create something useful and interactive. This meant starting from scratch in terms of branding and logo design. We used our in house resource and went through a series of iterations which developed into the logo you now see on the website. Alongside a selection of colour palettes and fonts to match the towns historical significance.
We are Chain have experience building Town Council websites and understand what goes into making them work and the type of content that visitors find valuable. The core of this website was the Heritage Trail. This is a tourist trail that takes you to a variety of locations around the town and demonstrates the fantastic history and buildings. This required an innovative approach that enables visitors to see both the map and listings of locations. The Trail had to be able to work on mobile devices too and be interactive.
The Chamber and Town Council are delighted with the website and have had some excellent feedback. The project is an ongoing collaboration between We are Chaina and a select group of volunteers who are keen to promote the town.
