Weekly Round Up – NEC – Planted and Compton Marbling

Weekly Round up - 29th April

The Bank Holiday approaches and there is no let up for the budding entrepeneurs at We are Chain. Along with the expected time off comes the usual Bank Holiday Shopping events that cancel out the chance to relax. This weekend we have managed to double book ourselves into some brilliant outdoor events. We also mixed up the week with a visit to the Food and Drink Expo at the NEC, a spot of golf networking in the new Forest and Dorchester.

The first event is for Dogs Dogs Dogs and takes place down the road from our office at Compton marbling. A fair that takes place in the summer and at Christmas. Packed full of colourful dresses, handmade pots and of course doggy products. Rupert and Jim will be manning the stand Friday to Saturday. As an eccomerce operation, you don’t often get the chance to meet your customers face to faceso events are a vital opportunity to build on relationships and make new ones.

The second event is for The Ethical Trader and takes place at the National Trust’s Stourhead House and Gardens. It is the first Planted COuntry event and is geared around the sustainability agenda. If you are visitng the gardens then why not pop in. They have some fantastic talks and demonstrations plus a good selection of stall holders, including the likes of Bramley and Wilson.

On Wednesday we ventured up to the Food and Drink Show at the NEC. A chance to meet with customers, suppliers and taste new and exciting foods for our own stomachs. The show combines Food and Drink with the Deli show so very relevant for us, haviong built several Deli click and collect websites over the past year. We got to try out new flavours from some of our old friends like Love Corn and Tenzing. We also tested a few new gin and rum brands. Including Gasm Drinks who recently featured on Dragons Den.

As members of Fore Networking, we attended the Bournemouth Groups mnthly game at Knighton Heath Golf Club. A round of 116 did not do Jim’s golf stats any favours although a single Par more than makes up for it on a new course.

Hopefully we get to see you soon and maybe this weekend at one of our events. Have a great bank Holiday.
