Good morning, everyone. It’s Rupert from We Are Chain with some more tips and tricks for Shopify. So this morning I’m going to show you how to use the tags function to set up your collections or categories.
You may be used to calling them. So without further ado, what I’m going to do is go into some products that we have already created.
Iif we look at the first one, which is the luxury water group dog bed, down on the right hand side.
You can see there’s a category that says dog beds, but ignore that for the time being, because what we’re going to do is we’re going to add some tags and we’re going to call one If I could type properly that would help.
It says add waterproof dog tag, dog bed as a tag. Okay, so we’re going to do that and we can see it’s got dog bed in there and we, so it’s got two tags.
What I’m then going to do is I’m going to save that product. I’m going to come out of it and I’m going to go into collections.
In collections there’s currently just the home page which is a standard Shopify collection that’s created but I’m going to create a collection now which is going to be based on the tags that we’ve just created.
So I’m going to go call this one Waterproof Dog Vet and, ah, when you have an image that’s formatted to the correct shape and size you can chuck it in there.
Obviously, this is really good for SEO so you can put this where you add SEO for your category or your collection I should say.
Then what we’re going to do is you can either have two types of collection, you can have a manual collection which is where you literally plonk each of the items in one by one or automated which we find is the best way of doing it.
Is you basically use the product tags. So in this case what we’re going to do is we’re going to say the product tag is equal to and we’re going to go waterproof.
What I usually do is tick the box that says any condition and if we do that and we click safe, if everything has worked lo and behold, there’s the bed that’s disappeared.
So it is automatically within that collection. Now, just to run through that again one more time for you, if I come back out and if I just create one for say I’ll create another one which is called dog beds, If I create another one called dog beds, okay, and we’re going to match any condition and we’re going to put, you can see it says dog bed down there automatically.
We’re going to click save. And I believe there should be two in here now. So there we go. So there’s a luxury soft dog bed and a luxury waterproof dog bed.
Tthat in its essence is how you create collections which you can then link in on your navigation. I’m going to come on to navigation later.
